Customized Solutions for Asbestos Abatement

Did you know that total removal isn’t your only option?

Spot repair, encapsulation, enclosure are all safe and efficient alternatives to full asbestos removal. At Atlantic Abatement, each project is individually assessed in order to determine the best and most practical method of asbestos abatement.

Asbestos Spot Repair is used when only a fraction of the exposed asbestos becomes damaged. This involves either the abatement or encapsulation of a small portion of asbestos containing material. A spot repair is defined differently by each state based on its quantity.

Asbestos Encapsulation is the act of applying a material to cover existing asbestos pipe insulation, boiler covering, or breaching. Atlantic uses a canvas style wrap and mastic to cover and seal the exposed asbestos, allowing the asbestos to remain intact and safe. Encapsulation is a frequently selected option for individuals who do not wish to perform a full scale abatement, and would like to continue utilizing the material as insulation for their heating system.

Asbestos Enclosure is the method of encasing an asbestos containing material (ACM) with a non-asbestos covering or case. This can be done by building soffits, placing ceilings, encasements, or placing flooring covers over existing ACMs, thereby not allowing any asbestos fibers to escape.

Asbestos Removal is used as a last solution to an asbestos problem when all other remedies do not correct the situation at hand.

Our Process

Safe and Simple Interior Asbestos Abatement

While we provide customized solutions for the unique needs of each asbestos project, we generally follow this safe and simple process when working indoors with asbestos abatement.
Phase 1

Containment and Negative Pressure

A sealed area is created using industrial-grade plastic to isolate the asbestos-containing materials. Negative air machines are installed to create a negative pressure within the containment, ensuring that air flows inward to contain the fibers.

Containment and Negative Pressure
Phase 2

Removal and Disposal

Powerful HEPA-filtered vacuums are used to safely remove asbestos-containing materials. A three-chamber decontamination system is set up to allow workers to enter and exit the containment area without spreading asbestos fibers.

Phase 3

Clean Up And Sealing

All workers wear appropriate PPE to protect themselves from exposure. The area is thoroughly cleaned to remove any remaining asbestos debris. A spray encapsulant is applied to seal off any remaining asbestos fibers, preventing their release.

Phase 4

Inspection and Reoccupation

An independent industrial hygiene firm conducts a final visual inspection and air quality testing to ensure the area is safe. Once the area is certified as asbestos-free, the containment is removed, and the space can be reoccupied.
